I am going to try out a basic woodturning course I've had in my head for a while now - already sending it out with today's newsletter, but there may not be a need for too much more PR (unless the people who already expressed interest during last week's plenum can't make it).

The practical work on dangerous machines is different from most seminars we've had so far, so I'm calling it a "course" and am hoping mostly for known participants this time, but if it works well I'll host it again and we can reach out more (and perhaps sell tickets). This first time will be free - donations for new tools welcome ;-)

If you're interested in learning the rather artsy - but nonetheless often also practical - technique of woodturning, this one is for you! We will go through some cutting theory and machine safety before trying our hand at some simple shapes. The course will be on Sunday, Oct 13, from 14:00 to 18:00.

The number of practical slots has to be strictly limited or nobody would get enough time at the machines, so please sign up by sending an eMail to lukas@comaking.space

Participation is free for all who are interested, but you'll need a membership or at least a day pass for practical work! If you enjoyed the course, donations for additional tools are of course very welcome.

DE: "Drechselkurs: Einführung in das Langholzdrechseln"

Wenn ihr euch für das recht künstlerische - aber trotzdem oft auch nützliche - Drechslerhandwerk interessiert, seid ihr hier richtig! Wir werden uns mit etwas Schnitt-Theorie und Maschinensicherheit beschäftigten, bevor wir unser Glück an ein paar einfachen Formen versuchen. Der Kurs wird am Sonntag, 13. Oktober, von 14 bis 18 Uhr stattfinden.

Die Zahl der praktisch arbeitenden Teilnehmer muss stark begrenzt werden, sonst würde niemand genug Zeit an den Maschinen bekommen - also meldet euch bitte vorher per Mail an lukas@comaking.space an!

Die Teilnahme ist für alle Interessierten kostenlos, für die praktische Arbeit brauchst du aber eine Mitgliedschaft oder zumindest eine Tageskarte! Wenn dir der Kurs gefallen hat, sind Spenden für weitere Drechseleisen natürlich sehr willkommen.

all slots filled up! It might still be nice to raise awareness and start a waiting list by posting about it in social media later, but no further PR is needed :-)
