No keys found for kernel #47

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Copying Keys.plist from redsn0w
2. Applying python scripts kernel_patcher.py to the iOS IPSW
3. Result = "No keys found for kernel"
I've tried using redsn0w_mac_0.9.9b8 and redsn0w_mac_0.9.10b4 on
iPhone4,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw, iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw and
iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw. I got the same result from all of their
combinations.

I'm helping my friend to recover pics in an iPhone and now being blocked by
this issue. Please kindly help.

Oops! Thanks for your reply. May I ask if you guys would have a plan on
covering iPhone 4S and iPad 2? Btw, I still have one question regarding this
issue. Please help. It should be fine for me to point redsn0w_mac_0.9.9b8 to
iPhone4,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw. It should not be related to the phone. Why
"No keys found for kernel"?

Thanks!!!!

Support for those devices is not planned. The firmware encryption keys for
these devices are not known (and thus not in the redsn0w Keys.plist file)
because no bootloader-level vulnerability (required to get the encryption keys)
has been found yet for A5 devices.

Now that the keys are out for those devices, do you plan on adding support?

AFAIK the encryption keys for those devices are not available, at least not on
theiphonewiki ?
However, if you can jailbreak the device, you can use the tools, see issue 49

@kwanhung nope, afaik there is still no way to boot unsigned code on those
devices.
