Order incomplete (spinning wheel) #9

What happened I placed my first order (from 45 Dragon). I selected 3 items and entered cc per instructions. Instead of "order complete" message I got the spinning wheel for over 2 min. See attached.

What you expected to happen Expected an order confirmation with instructions on delivery and order tracking

Great catch! The spinning wheel displays until someone on the business end confirms that they have received the order. We did not realize that seeing only a loading symbol after placing an order would be totally confusing and troublesome to a user. We have updated this page to display more information to the user regarding their order status.

That screenshot helped enormously! And actually, I think this one is a real bug. The order status page should say Order Status at the top even while it's loading. This indicates that the websocket failed to establish a connection (this is an issue with the way we implement continuously updating status). Refreshing the page when you get that fixes it 100% of the time. I have a good idea of what's behind this problem, so we'll see if I can get it fixed in the next push this week. No matter what, we'll give that little loading circle a message that is a little more informative.

Assume this is still in progress, but got this when I re-tested tonight.

Hi @loretta-t — yes, you saw the new interface and the bugfix. The blue message will only show in the testing environment, but the loading tooltip will show for everyone, so they know why it appears as if the page is "loading." To test out what it's like on the business side of things, I've given both of your test accounts producer permissions, which means you can register a business. If you want to go ahead and create your own restaurant with one of your own users, you can come back here and ping me by commenting on this issue and I can make your restaurant "public," which will allow you to make orders to it and see what the processing is like.

This will be slightly less manual by the end of the weekend, as we're building out the "permission granting" interface right now.
