notebook experimenting with hyperparameters and their impact on the performance of the starting SNN; this is almost the final version of that notebook! One or so experiment left to run.
text (introduction finalised so far) for the F&F section that we may want to merge with / adapt for the final paper

I'm including the text you've written so far in the paper for now, but we'll probably need to leave it out for the first preprint which we're aiming to do this week or early next week.
