Code cleanup, fixes and updates for current versions of CiviCRM #188

The codebase for civibooking is using a lot of legacy methods and has not been updated for current coding standards for a long time.

This series of commits improves the codebase to bring it up to current standards and allow for future maintainability.

Each commit explains what change is being made.
