Use config snapshots (ok, yes, a bit like config_sync), taken (by default) on cm_config_tools/site installation and on imports/exports, or on running a command/method, to be able to compare what has changed since a last snapshot.
This would then make it super easy to specifically export whatever has been worked on, making it much easier than even having to remember what needs exporting (e.g. forgetting to export a paragraph type or having to run drush cd-md / config-list etc).
