• Timeout: only follow links until a timeout is reached.
• Link path dept: only follow links up until a link path of a certain length.
• Link count: only follow links until a certain number is reached (source-local or global).
• Survival of the fittest: kill off link paths where none of the documents produced any results.
• Popcorn: stop following links if no more results are obtained after a certain timeout.
