cupy installs but does not function #152

Issue: After installing cupy through conda forge when i try to import cupy. i get this error.

You have two CuPy installed, one from PyPI and another from Conda-Forge. Could you remove one of them (ex: pip uninstall cupy-cuda114) please?

Hi Leofang

thank you for your response. I uninstalled the pip version and that helped me get rid of the error. However, I don't think that the cuda py still works. I was testing it with this simple code. 

import cupy as cp
x = cp.array([1, 2, 3])

that gives this error

    x_gpu = cp.array([1, 2, 3])
AttributeError: module 'cupy' has no attribute 'array'

I dont have a file named cupy.py in the folder.

@tarankalra-usgs Your conda env is like corrupted due to the previous coexistence of multiple CuPy packages. Please retry with a fresh env.

I created a new environment now. I tried to install cupy again via conda. 

conda install -c conda-forge cupy cudatoolkit=10.0

I get this error message now.

Conda-Forge has recently deprecated support of Python 3.6, and older Pythons (2.7, 3.0~3.5) have been long unsupported.

In the original error report, it looks like Python 3.8 was being used. Could you please try creating an environment with Python 3.8?
