Unable to see mamba forge / conda environments inside vs code using the python extension #401

Solution to issue cannot be found in the documentation.

Issue

I used to use anaconda, miniconda, and have had mamba installed on them as well. I was able to choose the mamba forge kernels within vs code in the top right corner in any jupyter notebook.

I also have installed mambaforge 4.12.0-3 on a windows laptop last year and I can delete and create conda environments and can see them.

However, I just installed the latest mambaforge 22.9 on another windows computer but I can only see the base environment, I cant see any of the others I have created. I even tried downgrading to 4.12 but I can't see them.

What should I be doing to fix this?

works. Then the problem is either in jupyter notebooks, or in vscode's plugin for jupyter notebooks.

Let us know what conda env list gives you.

I remember you might have to install https://github.com/conda-forge/nb_conda-feedstock somewhere (either in base or your env?)

I have the same problem on EndeavourOS. Running conda env list worked as intended.

in my mind, if

conda env list

works. Then the problem is either in jupyter notebooks, or in vscode's plugin for jupyter notebooks.

Let us know what conda env list gives you.

I remember you might have to install https://github.com/conda-forge/nb_conda-feedstock somewhere (either in base or your env?)

After installing nb_conda in the base environment, everything works great, both in Jupyter notebook and Python extension itself.

Installing https://github.com/conda-forge/nb_conda-feedstock solved my problem. The VSCode is now able to detect the environment and its kernel
