WIP: Build from source #2

Attempts to build from source. This contains the work already put together in staged-recipes to see if we can get this to build from source. However, there is some issue building with scons. It may require a patch and an expert eye to fix. This at least puts it together so we can determine what is still needed.

Seems CircleCI went and ran anyways even though it shouldn't. Closing and reopening to hopefully clear it.

So closing and reopening made no difference. However amending the commit and force pushing did.
