@matthiasdiener: Many thanks for taking care of this. I think the solution for the problem (at least on Linux, I don't understand why windows builds fail) can be copied from https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-community/blob/packages/paraview/trunk/PKGBUILD This is the Paraview package on Arch linux and also provides the vtk library. I'm using that instead of vtk (which is outdated and conflicts with paraview) on my system and so far I did not encounter any problems.
