We don't need a CEP to launch a website. Just do it. I can make the repo if needed.
Thanks Matt for creating the repo and the team.
I will try to remember the CEP decision when we get that far.
@tnabtaf @beckermr I was wondering, to improve the visibility with the rest of the community (given Slack's lack of transparency by design), could we leave updates about the website progress here so we have a non-Google/non-Slack record?
@jezdez , I think we have adequate progress tracking now that there is a more mature repository complete with a project board; therefore, I think it's safe to close out this issue.

Yes, you're absolutely right, thank you for finding this!
Several of us are meeting on Monday, August 29 to launch an effort to get a conda community website up and running, hopefully this year. We would like to have a
conda-incubator
project while we define this effort. We anticipate that whatever technical solution(s) we choose, it(they) will all place website content and infrastructure within a GitHub repository. This approach will support easy community contribution to the web site, and will also allow us avoid hosting costs for the web site.
Once we have a prototype implementation and minimal viable website content, we anticipate submitting a CEP to formally propose launching the website and taking this effort out of incubation. At that time we will also propose the formation of either a Website subteam, or a Community (or Outreach?) subteam to manage the repo and website.
