Lower lockbot timeframe and add comment. #850

Closed jezdez closed 2 months ago

jezdez commented 11 months ago

Resolves #849.

Description

The reasoning here is that some older tickets in the conda org have been waiting to be locked for a long time. We need to point out to new participants that there is a way forward instead of piling on, especially if the old issues were open-ended and no decision was made in the past. It's worth opening new issues instead.

We removed the lockbot comment to decrease noise: https://github.com/conda/infrastructure/issues/547

@kenodegard is it still worth lowering the timeout for locking closed issues?

kenodegard commented 2 months ago

A whole year is probably overkill so lowering it makes sense but a month feels a little short (especially since our releases are bi-monthly). Maybe 3 or 6 months?

As for the lockbot comment, I'm pretty sure we should not add that back.

Okay, I've used 180 days.
