Business Model

• Criteria: I understand how the company earns its revenue.
• Indicators: If the company is not selling a product, it discloses how it is earning revenue and whether data is being sold for revenue.
• Procedures: Determine the organization type and the type of product. Is this a product or a service? Is this organization a for-profit or non-profit? Are there advertisements on the site, which indicate a revenue stream?

Investors

• Criteria: If the company is backed by investors, the investors have a track record of promoting social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Indicators: Company features its commitment to social issues. The product was built in a way that emphasizes its commitment to social issues (being accessible, having diverse imagery and language, etc).
• Procedures: Investigate the company on sites like Crunchbase to get a list of investors. Compare the list against investors with a poor reputation for these metrics or have a history of controversy with other investments or within the team (e.g. no diversity within the board, has had multiple allegations of sexual harrassment, etc).
