Is hackbat open source? #11

From the current snapshot of the README:

HackBat is an open-source device designed for hackers and makers to experiment with different pen-testing techniques.

As of this writing, this project is, as far as I can tell, "closed source" (at least here in the US) since there is no indication about what license is that the project falls under. I don't see a LICENSE file for the project nor do I see license information on any of the digital artifacts. If I've missed these, my apologies.

"Open Source" has a generally accepted meaning of being able to use the digital artifacts for commercial purposes. The OSI and Wikipedia's entry on open-source licensing both articulate that commercial re-use is a (generally accepted) requirement of an "open source" license. The Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA) has a defintion of Open Source Hardware. As clarification, OSHWA provides a list of best practices and FAQ.

Was the intent to make this project libre/free/open source?

If so, could you indicate the license, either by providing a LICENSE file with the appropriate license or by putting a license information in the relevant digital artifacts (preferably both)?

If not, it might be good to clarify what the restrictions are to avoid confusion.

Hi, you are right, I have to add a license file. Let me fix it this week. For now, the project is completely open, you can manufacture it if you want without restrictions. It would be great if someone add a modification or improvement, the new board will be also open.

Thanks!
