I've always disliked the current logo but it would have been, let's say, personally impolitic to say as much.
I think it would be nice if GPkit (sorry, gpkit for those who are offended by mixed case) had a separate logomark and logotype, like NumPy (I actually really like the font they use for the logotype/wordmark).
Logomark is a nice-to-have but in the meantime I would suggest we replace the current logo in the GitHub README and on the docs homepage, with a nice, single-colour, uniform-font GPkit.
