Shapefile upload freezes if not a ZIP #223

I routinely mistakenly upload a .shp file instead of a zipped shapefile. This causes the interface to freeze and it always takes me a minute to realize what I did wrong. There should be an error message.

Hello, I did the same mistake a few minutes ago. I cancelled and tried to upload the .ZIPped shapefile and the server seems blocked in the uploading process.
