Loozing data #19

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Duplicates are found
2. Duplicates have some different fields
3. I copy some information from the contact I delete to the contact I want
to keep
4. When I press apply the contact is deleted, but the one that I keep is
not changed, so I loose data.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to keep the relevant information from the contact I delete,
instead I loose it.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
0.6 on Windows Thunderbird 2.0.0.16

Please provide any additional information below.

Hi dimeptr!

Sorry to hear that you lost data. I cannot confirm this behaviour, since it
never
happened to me. Anyone?

Hi Marian,

Thanks for the reply. I will try to explain the problem in more details. When a
duplicate contacts are found, a dialog appears containing the differences
between the
two contacts. When some data that is in the contact I want to keep is (correct
or
missing in the contact I want to keep) I copy/paste it from one contact to the
other.
After I press apply and continue the contact (that I don't want) is deleted,
but the
field that I copy/paste is empty or with old data. So the contact that I keep is
unchanged and it should be.

Have you checked the thunderbird error console?

I will test it again with the thunderbird error console, and inform you about
the results

Isn't it just that the reporter didn’t change the direction of the change and filled all changes to the contact which is to be removed?
