Discussion: OKD release schedule and blocking FCOS releases on OKD e2e tests #562

Open LorbusChris opened 4 years ago

LorbusChris commented 4 years ago

The OKD WG will start releasing OKD 4 soon. We aim to do bi-weekly releases of OKD, alternating with the FCOS releases (i.e. OKD on a given FCOS release is released one week after the FCOS release)

A related topic is whether or not FCOS releases should be blocking on OKD e2e tests.

Opening this ticket for visiblity, let's discuss it in the FCOS community meeting today!

Hi, what was the result of this discussion?

LorbusChris commented 4 years ago

We didn't get to last week - it will be on the agenda again this Wedneseday

dustymabe commented 4 years ago

We discussed this during the meeting today.

  * AGREED: The group agrees it would be a good idea to trigger OKD
tests on new builds of FCOS so we can get feedback about breakage
sooner than later. It's possible the breakage is a regression in the
base OS OR a desired change that OKD needs to adapt for. Either way
running tests will help both FCOS and OKD. (dustymabe, 16:56:06)

There are some details still to be worked out, but in general this is something we support.

@LorbusChris - would you like to open a new ticket to characterize and track the work to wire things up?

@dustymabe I've opened https://github.com/coreos/fedora-coreos-config/issues/516 for that - we can move it here if that's a better fit.

@dustymabe I've opened coreos/fedora-coreos-config#516 for that - we can move it here if that's a better fit.

Yeah. I'll transfer it over if you're OK with that.
