Please note that this will not be the PR I expect anyone to review/merge. I am in the middle of 3 different things here. Once they are ready and cleaned up I will open 3 separate issues with 3 seperate commits/PRs for:

• Updating all dependencies
• refactoring for reduced duplicate code and better testability
• (possibly) project board columns -> jira issue state syncing. This particular bit is specific to my use case and depending on whether or not I can implement this mapping to be "generally" useful will dictate whether or not I bother creating a Issue/PR.
