Fix details on figures #51

By this you mean adding the 'line drawings' or something of the like, correct?

Or other details as well?

I have a student from AFB currently working on these.

wcornwell commented 6 years ago

yeah probably can make a list:

any others?

coreytcallaghan commented 6 years ago

Cool. For Figure 2, I have the lines on there to represent species, just to give an idea of where birds fell out in the distribution.

Think it is necessary?

I could include these photos as insets, or just present the distribution? The idea of including species gives more credence to the notion of an 'index' I think....?

This was my slide for the talk I gave most recently:

yes i think that would be cool.

Figure2.pdf

How does this display on your computer? Thoughts?

wcornwell commented 6 years ago

well it's 17 MB which might be overkill but looks good. can take the "log" off the x-axis now and maybe add units?

coreytcallaghan commented 6 years ago

Yeah, it is a lot bigger, but not sure whether to worry about it or not. I don't have much skills with all the illustrator stuff.

Probably worry about that later, maybe?

We wouldn't really have units for our urbanization index though?

coreytcallaghan commented 6 years ago

pushed a customized figure.

For Figure 3 (Phylo tree), what does the "length=100" mean on the legend?

wcornwell commented 6 years ago

It's the length of the color vector. should be deleted.

Figure3.pdf

About 1/2 way there. Will get the rest of the drawings from her tomorrow, hopefully.

What do y'all think?

coreytcallaghan commented 6 years ago

Should I add scientific names to each species? Might make it a little more messy.... I'm not sure.

johnWilshire commented 6 years ago

Looks good! I think the tree image has been extra compressed though I think names would be helpful as well

looks great! arrows and names are good i think

coreytcallaghan commented 6 years ago

I added names, but arrows make it look a little too busy I think. Plus, because the bars are all different heights it makes the arrows more difficult to add (if that makes sense).

I'm closing this for now, but realizing that we'll still have to edit the figure captions as part of the polishing process of the manuscript.

Plus, need to figure out #58 still too.
