Connectivity to laboratories / Transfer of QR code / QR code not working #400

Open SebastianWolf-SAP opened 4 years ago

SebastianWolf-SAP commented 4 years ago

We received the feedback from the following entities:

that since 28.07. test results cannot fetched through the app.

This means that the QR code does not work, or that the user does not receive a test result even though that the user informed the doctor or health agency multiple days ago.

Open questions:

To everybody having the same problems: Please report such errors as comments to this issue. Thanks!

Hi, I have a problem with the Corona Warn App. On 31.8. I have registered a corona test in the app via QR Code. I have not received a result in the App until today. Through my family doctor I did, negative test result.

Now I have the following problem: The App shows that test data is being retrieved (see screenshot). I want to go to my doctor today to have another test because I am showing symptoms again. But since I have no result in the CWA I cannot enter a new test! What can I do? Reinstall the app? Reset the app? I am unsure.

I use a Nokia 7.2 (hmd global) with current Android (thanks to Android one program). The CWA is version: 1.3.1. about the known problems with field 9 and if the laboratory is connected I asked my family doctor afterwards (regarding the last test).

Greetings Torffeuer and thanks for the help

daimpi commented 4 years ago

@Torffeuer It looks like you're experiencing https://github.com/corona-warn-app/cwa-app-android/issues/1084

One thing which you could try is resetting the app data in CWA, that should not delete any of the collected keys as they are saved in the Google Exposure Notification Framework (ENF) and are only deleted once you uninstall the last ENF app: https://www.coronawarn.app/en/faq/#delete_random_ids

In the case that you reset the data in CWA your day counter will start from 0 again, but that's just a cosmetic issue which doesn't have an effect on actual functional aspects and can also be circumvented by following the steps described here if this is important for you.

Torffeuer commented 4 years ago

Thanks, after reset the app Funktion is correct.

If you want I can share the result of the family doctor talk later

We are discussing this issue on regular basis as its currently one of our high priority tasks.

The latest feedback is:

MikeJayDee commented 4 years ago

So would you like us to report here concrete examples of doctors or test centres here that give out a the sheet with the CWA QR code, which can be registered in the CWA but where a result is not received within a few days? I would have two such examples from a colleague and a relative but they are already several weeks old. If we come across a public social media post of someone with sufficient information, should we link to this?

I agree on the priority.

svengabr commented 4 years ago

@MikeJayDee yes, any feedback is appreciated. I will make sure the information will get forwarded to the responsible people.

Thank you!

alanrick commented 4 years ago

I noticed that the efficiency of the CWA appears to be deteriorating since the iOS 1.32 release 10 days ago (graph 10 on micb25’s dashboard. )

I hope this is a coincidence, but it did set me thinking about the relevance of question 9 on the 10C form shown above.
If a patient scans the qrcode into their app, aren’t they explicitly giving permission for it to be used in the app (particularly if an explanation is shown in the app before they scan)? So the question only hampers the process, for example when the health worker forgets to tick it denying the patient’s wish for the results to go to the app.

And if the lab puts the test-results into the app’s db but the patient has not given permission, then it is not linked to the patient and can be treated as anonymous data outside the patient’s jurisdiction.

I have heard from several acquaintances whose results were returned by snail mail and not the app, despite scanning the qrcode in themselves, implying that question 9 is hindering the app’s efficiency without any legal or other benefit.

myfear commented 4 years ago

Just another field feedback. My dad got tested 10/8/20, got the QR-Code (similar form as shown in KVB example by Thomas above but just the lower part). We scanned the QR code in his iOS Corona-Warn-App (iPhone 6s, iOS 14.0.1 with latest app version 1.3.2) the same day. Call from the doctor with results on Friday. Until today no update in the corona-wanrn-app. Test still in pending mode.

daimpi commented 4 years ago

@myfear do you know / could you find out which lab conducted the tests? 🙂

As this seems to be information the CWA team is looking for:

  • All team/community members need to collect the relevant information from the bug reports like Name and location of the test center or laboratory so that TSI/RKI/SAP can work on improving the situation
myfear commented 4 years ago

@myfear do you know / could you find out which lab conducted the tests? 🙂

Yep. I'll know by tomorrow! Will follow up.

alanrick commented 4 years ago

I'd be keen to hear (perhaps via the lab) whether his doctor had checked box 9 on the form shown above (or the equivalent on the OEGD form if privately insured).

IMHO it's superfluous while others see it as a problem. but haven't taken any action to correct the situation.

daimpi commented 4 years ago

@svengabr I just got the following info via DM:

Lab conducting the test: Bioscientia Labor Freiburg

daimpi commented 4 years ago

@svengabr I received another report of a lab connection not working:

Das ist das Labor Moelbis (Mykologie Experten). Mache den Test immer am Flughafen in Leipzig und bisher hat das nie geklappt.

mrlnc commented 4 years ago

Labor Dortmund Leopoldstr., test processed on 20.10., results ready on same day. Results not showing up in app as of today.

ndegendogo commented 4 years ago

Got tested today in Testzentrum Fürstenfeldbruck. Their procedure is to send results via email.

I got a QR code, but they did not mention if it is for cwa (and I forgot to ask them).

daimpi commented 4 years ago

@ndegendogo

I got a QR code, but they did not mention if it is for cwa (and I forgot to ask them).

Did you try to scan it with CWA and if so: did it accept the code?

ndegendogo commented 4 years ago

@daimpi good question. I don't even know how to scan it with cwa. It is not printed on paper. It is on a website, they scanned it when they took the sample, and then sent me an email with the ID (just for reference, in case of any delay / need to involve their call center).

So, I guess this is not yet the cwa process?

MikeJayDee commented 4 years ago

@ndegendogo For the CWA process, you should receive the bottom half of the form shown on this website ("Infektionskette unterbrechen") at the test site: https://www.ladr.de/laborergebnisse-app-oder-webportal

ndegendogo commented 4 years ago

@MikeJayDee No paperwork at the test center. They have a fully digitized process, very efficient; only it seems to be different from cwa, and not integrated with cwa.

They have promised results latest after 48 h via email (and from collegues I hear they are often < 24 h). And I got the 9-digit code only as fallback.

Just a question on the cwa process. Does cwa use a single QR code to retrieve the test result and to upload positive DEK, or does the lab send another QR code for a "positive" result?

MikeJayDee commented 4 years ago

I guess in theory they could also show a CWA QR code on their website. If you can see a QR code on their website that is linked to your test, you could try scanning it with the app - tap "Were you tested? Inform and Help"* -> "Continue" -> "Document with QR code".

The QR code is used to link the app to the test. It is single-use only. The rest is magic done in the background, so you can scan the QR code directly at the test centre, and you will then be able to retrieve the test result with your phone, and, in case it is positive, submit your keys without any further QR codes.

*PS: I don't think "Inform and Help" is the best description. "Get your test result fastest here" would receive more clicks.

ndegendogo commented 4 years ago

No, I think these are simply two different and separate systems.

You give me the website of ladr. But I have registered at Covid Test Bayern / eurofins (I guess eurofins is the lab? Or is it the provider of this registration service?)

I have their QR code only on my smartphone, so I cannot scan it. I got it at the end of the registration process for this test.

If they indeed send my results fast via email as they promise, I don't need cwa for this. Hopefully I am not positive. And, in case, I can still get a TeleTAN for the cwa DEK upload procedure.

Thanks a lot for your explanations.

MikeJayDee commented 4 years ago

The ladr website was just the first random website which had a picture of the CWA form with the QR code.

ndegendogo commented 4 years ago

8CDB80C2-CE85-49A5-B022-5C061203F74B Sooo - finally I detected the QR code also in their email (it was hidden in the security settings, because I don't load remote content by default). So I tried now to scan it from the screen of my laptop, but it failed. Either it is indeed a separate system. Or the scanning process really wants printed paper?

(I attach the error message, of course without the QR code)

Edit: no "CWA form" involved in the whole process. As I said, no paper. Registration at their website, confirmation email with the QR code. Thats it.

Ein-Tim commented 4 years ago

Tagesschau Article about the missing connection to Hospital Laboratories, they've done some research, maybe it helps.

ndegendogo commented 4 years ago

Got my results meanwhile (via email), and luckily they are negative.

Still some questions arise: 1) Is there a reason why I need to scan this QR code? Why cannot I simply get a text field to provide it manually, in case this scanning process fails? 2) the error message should be improved. I cannot tell what exactly was wrong: a) code was scanned correctly, but lab has not yet uploaded my results b) code could not be scanned because of bad quality c) code was scanned but is a different lab system, not supported by cwa

Mervalina commented 4 years ago

Hi everybody, I got the test result via the app within 24 hours two weeks ago but recently, the app doesn't work anymore for the test result showing a sign indicating data retrieval while the app is freezing in this status.

What you are describing is listed in one of the other hot topics https://github.com/corona-warn-app/cwa-app-android/issues/1084.

Mervalina commented 4 years ago

Thank you, Mike. I came to learn that the variable necessary to receive the test result is deleted on the server on day 21. They seem to be working on the issue.

Thanks again for your instant reply.

I did a test on Thursday (5th November) afternoon at my local doctor and got two different qr codes. One for cwa and one for the website https://www.mein-laborergebnis.de/. While the Website had information about the status of the test (reached laboratory on the late evening of 5th November) and the final result on the late evening of 6th November. CWA does not show any result and still waits for it on November 7th: "Your result is not yet available". The lab is Synlab in Weiden (Oberpfalz) in Bavaria and is performing a huge number of tests for the south of Germany as far as i know.

Is this a mistake by the doctor, the lab or what is going wrong?

moerpel commented 4 years ago

I have got my test result available but not in the CWA app. The app still says that the result is not yet available. I registered the code on 2.11.2020 in the app and got my result from the laboratory on 06.11.2020.The Laboratory is Bioscentia.

alexhass commented 4 years ago

Test results do not show up in the CWA on both Android and IOs. Tests have been made by Ärztlicher Bereitschaftsdienst Hessen at Gesundheitsamt, Bessunger Str 121, Darmstadt. KVHessen has send one of two SMS on 17th November about test result from 16th, November, but CWA still has no test result today 20th November!

This suxx a lot as I learned someone at KVH has send the second SMS to a wrong mobile number.

Highly unprofessional IT that CWA does not show the results.

ndegendogo commented 4 years ago

Please have also a look at this ticket on the wishlist. Of course, this is "no statistics, only anecdotical". But it shows part of the reasons why the fraction of people submitting their DEK keys is so low, and suggests an easy way to mitigate this fact.

My test result is also not visible in the app (Android 10, App version 1.7.1, Nokia 6.1).

I did the test at my local Teststrecke for Main-Spessart in Marktheidenfeld (Bavaria). Laboratory: Eurofins LifeCodexx GmbH, Konstanz

The procedure was as follows (all times in CET): 26.11.2020 - Test day:

27.11.2020 - The day after the test:

If someone from TSI/RKI/SAP is in contact with the laboratory: They should state on theire first mail "Covid Test Bayern - Registrierungs-ID / Registration-ID" that the huuuuuuge QR-Code is only for internal purposes and not meant for the app. I did not scan this code b/c i asked the staff at the Teststrecke if this is for the CWA and they said no. But it is confusing as they do not write that the QR-Code for the app will be sent via mail after sampling...

Note there is updated FAQ advice on "I get an error while scanning the QR code. What can I do?" https://www.coronawarn.app/en/faq/#qr_scan which refers back to this issue.

The FAQ article lists a link for an example of a correct CWA compatible testing form and it gives an e-mail address corona-warn-app.opensource@sap.com to send in documents related to cases where scanning has not worked properly. It's best to read the full FAQ article before sending anything in.

stweil commented 3 years ago

alanrick commented 3 years ago

You bring up a good point. I used a different laboratory (no qrcode) and also got my results back by entering my test ID in the Web. Doesn’t that mean that publicly accessible pseudonymous data was stored on a server, which I should have agreed to in advance?

not-a-feature commented 3 years ago

translation of comment https://github.com/corona-warn-app/cwa-documentation/issues/400#issuecomment-770740203 : The Limbach Laboratory (Heidelberg) gives a QR code to the persons tested. However, this always points to the same URL (https://heidelberg.corona-ergebnis.de/), so it is completely unusable for the warning app (but of course you can't see this directly and it is not mentioned anywhere). Since corona-ergebnis.de is offered nationwide, I fear a nationwide problem. The retrieval there can therefore only be done manually and has miserable user guidance.

In addition, the linked website superfluously obtains data from US servers, does not even mention them in the data protection declarations and thus violates the DS-GVO.

All in all, after a year's experience with Corona, this is an extremely unsatisfactory state of affairs!

Why are labs not obliged to support the CWA properly? After all, they earn a lot of money with the tests.

dsarkar commented 3 years ago

@not-a-feature Thanks for the translation!

dsarkar commented 3 years ago

@stweil Danke fuer den Report.

Yes, but ... this is a form used by doctors when they send me to be tested. Many people are tested without any doctor involved. Just think of people returning home from their journey.

stweil commented 3 years ago

Done now.

And none of the doctors involved in the tests which I saw up to now used a standardized form with a working QR code.

ndegendogo commented 3 years ago

Just a small (anecdotical) feedback that it is indeed improving:

MikeMcC399 commented 3 years ago

@ndegendogo

It's good to hear that test result retrieval worked for you!

As you pointed out in https://github.com/corona-warn-app/cwa-wishlist/issues/227#issuecomment-785393925 there is a two-device requirement if a lab sends a QR code electronically instead handing over a QR code on paper at the time of testing.

CWA can only take QR code input via a mobile device camera, there is no provision for passing a QR code to CWA from app to app. That is a gap in the process caused by the way the eurofins lab is passing on the QR code electronically.

Perhaps the CWA app could be enhanced to allow a QR code image to be given to the QR code input function electronically?

Not everybody will have immediate access to a second electronic device, to present a QR code to the CWA camera for scanning. It's OK of course if you have another mobile device, a laptop, a desktop or a printer, but if not then you are stuck!

ndegendogo commented 3 years ago

but if not then you are stuck!

Exactly!

dsarkar commented 3 years ago

@ndegendogo Thanks for the feedback! @MikeMcC399 @ndegendogo
