Technical details

Describe the bug

Although CWA is EOL, it is still available in the Google Play Store until May 31th.

When installing it from there newly and starting for the first time, the app still shows the deprecated onboarding screen with sentences like:

The next following screen "Data Privacy" is however up-to-date.

Steps to reproduce the issue

Install CWA from Google Play Store, or delete all app data in an existing installation.

Expected behaviour

Information removed.

Possible Fix

Drop the onboarding screen.

Additional context

This issue is similar to https://github.com/corona-warn-app/cwa-app-android/issues/5920

Internal Tracking ID: EXPOSUREAPP-15165

Under iOS, this is the screen flow:

1. 2. 3.
Simulator Screenshot - iPhone 14 Pro - 2023-05-01 at 10 54 28 Simulator Screenshot - iPhone 14 Pro - 2023-05-01 at 10 54 31 Simulator Screenshot - iPhone 14 Pro - 2023-05-01 at 10 54 33

So if I understood @jkrwdf correctly, that's also how it looks like under Android.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think this works as designed.

If you are looking for a 100% clean ramp-down, you will be disappointed.

In the Google Play Store it says:

and the first screen in onboarding continues like this, unaffected by ramp-down.

One positive point:

If you have no exposure warning app installed on Android and then go to Settings > Google > COVID-19 support > Select your region > Germany, it now says "Exposure Notifications isn't currently available" instead of displaying CWA.

So at least it has been removed from there.

Target of this issue is in fact only the CWA code, where at some locations things were overlooked by dev and test. Yours because the tester already had certificates, mine because the tester looked at an already installed app only.

@jkrwdf

I think you mean "adapted" not "adopted" in the subject.

@MikeMcC399

I think the Play Store and App Store texts were not adapted, as the apps will be removed from the Stores anyhow at the end of this month.

@dsarkar This issue affects both iOS and Android, could you move it to the documentation repo and mirror it to JIRA, please?

@Ein-Tim

I don't know how much interest there will be in fixing these issues. As you say, the apps will no longer be available soon and no longer supported. They don't affect the functionality. It's just a case of inconsistent text information in many places.
