Potential erroneous data for CO2e per capita in some European countries? #18

Hi,

What is counted exactly behind the current footprint per capita? Only CO2 emissions, or is it including all the other GHG?

The footprint per capita for France and Germany are suspiciously low, even when import/exports are included. In France it shold be around 10t CO2e in 2022[1] and not 6t CO2e. Germany's latest data points also seem to lag a bit behind, as of now usually estimated to be above 12t CO2e par capita.

Hi @tbop,

The per-capita footprint only takes into account CO2 (not other GHG), and is based on the global carbon project's data alongside the world bank estimates for population (see https://github.com/corradio/footprintmap/blob/master/README.md#data-sources).

This is why they may seem low compared to other data sources that include all GHG.

Hi @corradio

Thank you so much. Is it nonetheless part of the roadmap to include other GHG and LULUCF on top of the carbon footprint per capita?

Cheers

I would love to do that, but am struggling to find time. Happy to have any contributions!
