Handle Untrusted Certificates #13

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set up IMAPS using an IMAPS-server with a self-signed (untrusted)
certificate
2. Start Sync
3. Exception will be shown "javax.mail.MessagingException: No trusted
server certificate"

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Inform user about the untrusted certificate and the risks involved
accepting it. Give the user the choice to accept the certificate and continue.

Please use labels and text to provide additional information.

Would it make sense to provide an easy way to bundle custom CAs or certs with
the apk,
to allow people to build a localized version with an established trust path?

I can use the SSL-certificate of my IMAPS server for "K-9 Mail" and even the
pre-installed Samsung E-Mail application can connect to 993 w/o any problem.
I tried CAcert.org and StartSSL.com verified certificates.
This is really annoying, since I use kolab/thunderbird on my desktop. :-(

I'm currently working on it. My test version already works in most cases but I
have to fix one or two things before pushing it to svn.

This issue has been fixed. However no new version of KolabDroid was released
yet because of issues with the signing of the APK file. You can always check
out the most recent version from the SVN and install it to your mobile thereby.
However this might be a bit tedious. We intend to release a new version of
KolabDroid soon, please stay tuned.
