We have two dokuwiki installs, an old but upgraded one with 3 wikis, all with active users and the other for testing.
In the complex one encryption does't work in any of the 3 wikis.
In the testing one we have a main wiki and an animal one. The encryption works in the main one but fails to encrypt in the animal.
All 5 wikis are served by https with good certificates.
After pressing Save the passphrase popup appears, but the text remains unchanged with
