I tried creating an animal with capital letters but it results in the animal not being found when trying to open it in the browser.

Since animal names are potentially used in subdomains, they have to adhere to the appropriate domain standards.

We should at least lowercase animal names on creation. Implementing punycode for non-latin1 names would be an optional nicety.
