I think about atom value accrual, I can't help but ponder the hub's role as an investor or fund.
Governance can be used to make yay or nay decisions on possible investments and presumably some portion of downstream product projects tokens supplies can flow back to the hub.
For me, this is the scenario with an absolutely unbounded atom price:
People buy atom not only for staking and speculation on utility but also because they would like to get stake in a wide variety of projects that connect to the hub.
The hub becomes more than an IBC facilitator, It builds out an ecosystem of advisors and investors and a decentralized process for seeding new projects in the ecosystem.
Benefits:
Teams don't need companies
ATOM becomes more desirable
establishment of a formal process for the hub itself to invest directly in projects that connect to it
The hub gains additional sovereignty
Risks:
May create regulatory ambiguity
Not every downstream project will succeed
Introduction of a new political layer with direct financial consequences
