Remaining cleanup to-dos:

[x] Include required packages in makefile
[x] Update README.md
[x] Make the device number configurable on the command-line. Currently it's hardcoded to plughw:1,0 and we may want to try, e.g., hw:1,0 for speed.
[x] Rename stdin_reader.* to hardware_reader.* for clarity. (No need for the old stdin_reader AFAIK)

I'll start attacking these soon.
