This is kind of a big feature request. Not so much an "issue" I would say.

you are so right...I attempted patching the code from the coursera-dl but it did not work at all. not even 1%. I am hoping someone with the skill set could help make this happen.
Please, see my answer at https://github.com/shk3/edx-downloader/issues/102#issuecomment-63605157
A very good first step to fixing this would be to define what "course materials" mean in this context. In particular, which pages do the users feel that should be downloaded?

Should we mark one of the two issues as duplicated and point people to discuss in one issue? Probably, we need discussion to get an idea for this feature.

On coursera I am to download the course materials as pdf and the videos too. But on I am only able to download just the videos. Could someone who knows how to use python create a new script that can also download the course content as well as the videos. I am looking to use edx in offline mode since my internet connection is not very reliable most of the time. Thanks so so much.
