Aluminum and Aluminium #88

Open KollinsPlays opened 8 years ago

KollinsPlays commented 8 years ago

There appears to be a bug where Tinker's Construct Aluminum has a typo in the Magneticraft Chunk/Rubble/Pebbles/Dust stages where it is named Aluminium (there's an extra i), which is actually a separate ore from GregTech. This does not affect gameplay since the final products do smelt into the proper TiCo Aluminum Ingots.

This is on magneticraft-0.6.1-final.jar In the Bevo Tech Pack

aluminum is called in some places of the world aluminium, that's why there is a diference between mods

The last time I played a modpack with GregTech, there was a difference between Aluminum (TiCo) and Aluminium (GregTech) and the two were not interchangeable. See: http://ftbwiki.org/Aluminium_Ingot I think some of the newer mods like Galacticraft and Immersive Engineering made the same mistake you have and use them interchangeably, but originally Aluminum was a fairly easy to acquire item and Aluminium required special GregTech machines.

In the real world, the word Aluminum is mostly used in the USA and the rest of the world uses Aluminium and they are the same. In modded Minecraft, Aluminum was used by mods like Tinkers Construct (TiCo) and was easy to get by finding Aluminum Ore and Aluminum Gravel Ore and smelting it while Aluminium was GregTech specific and required complex processing of Bauxite Ore. The two were not interchangeable and I think it would be best to stick with one name to avoid GregTech, and possibly IC2, causing problems with Aluminium.

But in the real world, aluminum and aluminium are exactly the same. The fact that GregTech treats it as a super realistic ore and some other mods don't is irrelevant to Magneticraft, really, that's up to GregTech to enforce their own complicated production system (e.g. like Reika does). They should be combined as equivalent, but this is up to a mod like AOBD in my opinion.

Not a bug.
