Hello, The recovered cases are wrong. They are not stuck at 1347, currently they are ~10.000 according to worldometers.info .

eguidotti commented 3 years ago

This is definitely true, thank you for your message! The recovered cases for Greece come from JHU CSSE. They do seem wrong. Would you mind notifying the issue to them? Alternatively, are you aware of some other data provider for historical recovered cases in Greece? Unfortunately, I can only see today's cases on worldometers. But I would be happy to fix this if some better source is available.

Inglezos commented 3 years ago

There is no direct source for that as far as I know. But you can compute the historical recovered cases for Greece, as well as for any other country, using the Active Cases, according to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/about/ -> Definitions section -> Active Cases = (total cases) - (total deaths) - (recovered) Thus: Total Recovered = Total Cases - Total Deaths - Active Cases Then, for the past daily recovered cases you could proceed with: Daily Recovered[i] = Total Recovered[i] - Total Recovered[i-1] and do this recursively since the first days of the pandemic for the specific country. For example, for Greece and for yesterday (23 October 2020), this is valid, since: Total Cases = 29057 Total Deaths = 559 Active Cases = 18509 Thus Recovered Cases = 29057 - 559 - 18509 = 9989, which is the same value as the one worldometers.info has!

Respectively for USA and for yesterday (23 October 2020), this is valid as well, since: Total Cases = 8.746.953 Total Deaths = 229.284 Active Cases = 2.819.508 Thus Recovered Cases = 8.746.953 - 229.284 - 2.819.508 = 5.698.161, which is the same value as the one worldometers.info has (almost, because since yesterday there are additional recovered cases reported).

I think this is something that can be done by your team very soon and will solve many inconsistencies at the recovered cases. This has to be applied at least for Greece and USA, as far as I know. If I find any other country I will contact you again!

I have already contacted the JHU systems team by email (at jhusystems@gmail.com) regarding this wrong data issue, but they still have not replied me back.

The JHU CSSE team has updated and closed this issue. Thank you for your support!

Inglezos commented 3 years ago

Please, update soon your data with the JHU CSSE. Because I see that now the JHU CSSE has normal recovered cases values for Greece, but your data have not been updated yet. Thank you again!

Hi @Inglezos. Looks weird, I just tried and it seems I get the right counts now: 23.074 on 2020-10-30. No changes were made today, I guess it took an hour or so for the automatic update to complete. Can you confirm the numbers are now correct? Thanks!

Inglezos commented 3 years ago

Yes yes, now it is updated, everything is okay thank you again!
