Grey player only games #1073

As there are rainbow player only games, and games that only allow players over a certain amount of elo to join, shouldn't there be grey player games only? This type of game would be for the less experienced players who would want to learn how to play without the frequent toxicity of rainbow players, and obviously only grey players would be able to make them. I think this would be quite a good way to learn how to play the game when you are new, and are surrounded by people shouting meta at you.

Thanks

The purpose of rainbow-only games are to allow existing players to play without having games potentially ruined by throwaway accounts, as it is impossible to deal with those any way other than after it happens. As far as I know, the plan is to eventually reduce the barrier on rainbow games and tie it in with verification.

Also, rainbow players usually do not enter non-rainbow games. You might get one or two in a 10p, but it's almost all greys.

Finally, you can make the game casual if you want, which should help with the toxicity as nothing is at stake for them.

IDK I kinda like it? Problem is I don't want rainbow players to not have a game to play but tbh statistically that shouldn't happen as the average grey player should want rainbow in their games as they will be blue and so will the rainbow? If that makes any sense. Maybe this is something that should be strawpolled.

Since this is already implemented shouldn't this issue be closed?

Vigasaurus commented 3 years ago

Where do you see this implemented? 🤔

Rainbow players tend to not play in grey games because they mainly consist of throwers and scrap accounts. Speaking from experience, if a player sits in a grey game usually it's because they are bad enough to be ostracized from the rainbow games. It can be assumed, therefore, that grey games will mainly consist of grey players. The occasional rainbow occurs, but it's not enough to make a significant difference.

P.S. If a rainbow player sits in a grey game, assume that their skill level is "gray tier"

Rainbow players tend to not play in grey games Sure, but this doesn't really call the issue resolved. By that logic any issue regarding a bug fix shouldn't every get fixed because "it tends to not happen".

The reason for this issue wasn't to say that grey games will automatically be grey-only, but rather that it'd be an option for players who want to knowingly play a game with lesser-skilled players only, and more user choice with no real consequences is almost never a mistake.
