Any reason not to use transifex for translation ? #343

Hi, I'm french, so I'm not impacted by this, but I'm also a translator and I wonder why documentation is not using transifex. Is something preventing you from doing it?

Hello @Jibec, (sorry for replying so late, thanks for your feedback).

We use Transifex to translate all our applications as well as our main website: https://www.transifex.com/cozy/

But we don't use it for documentation for historical reasons. We started writing the documentation long time ago, before using Transifex. Migrating the documentation to Transifex will now require a lot of work, and it's not one of our top priorities.

Also, a full rewriting of Cozy is in progress, so this documentation will become outdated in a few months. We'll consider using Transifex when we'll start writing the new one.

Thanks for your answer, for your information I used po4a to make a proof of concept of translation using Pelican for the YunoHost project. You may use the very same code to translate markdown pages with almost no effort. But for the template translation, it probably will be more work. You may reuse some of it once you decide to start your work. Here is the description: https://forum.yunohost.org/t/building-an-internationalization-friendly-project-documentation/2535

You may close this ticket if you wish. -- Jean-Baptiste Holcroft
