I think this could be implemented as an addon. Do you now a free (as is beer) Markdown editor you would like to use to compose your messages ?
I think a dedicated editor for markdown is not especially relevant. But we may want to have a "preview" field where the content is rendered (in this case, using marked is certainly the best choice).
It raises another point: shall we do send markdown formatted messages as it (in markdown raw flavour) or should we convert them to HTML (e.g. using marked) before sending? Same question if we received a mail markdown-formatted: do we keep it as it, or render it's content to display it?
Personnaly, I hope one day our emails client will render automatically markdown formatted content, and we send our mails in the markdown format, which is a good middle-way solution to unbloat this shitty html-emails . Maybe Cozy-emails should be the deal-breaker . Note that the feature to automatically render markdown mails, and/or render mails before sending can be some options in a preferences section.
That would be great if we can write mail in markdown. It's easy, quick and effectif but mayde not enought friendly but we might can bind this with classic editor.
