A tiny hack to treat any undefined status as pending (waiting for the status to be defined).

@y-lohse I think it is not the responsibility of the library who cares about getting json data from the stack to update its value for UI purpose.

Meh. i think it is it's responsability to provide data that is safe to use. But I understand your point of view, and it's fair enough 👍
