Syncing with simplenote #72

Closed helloravi closed 5 years ago

I get "syncnote step 1 error- could not update note to server". I dont understand what is happening but here are the symptoms

1)I can sync individual notes using "sync current note" 2)If i add a new note to simplenote account through other means. It is not added to nvpy.

I am confused as to what to do about it. I tried mailing Botha. He is probably busy and hence I am writing it here.

This was most probably due to simplenote syncing errorrs / server problems. Has it since been resolved?

helloravi commented 11 years ago

It has not been resolved. I tried re-installing it several times but the error continued. I am using ubuntu 12.04. I am currently using google syncpad(got it from your post on quora )

Could you try one more thing for me?

  1. Make sure nvpy is not running.
  2. delete the .nvpy/ folder in your home directory.
  3. start nvpy up and wait for it to resync everything

It sounds like there might be some sort of invalid note in the nvpy database which is causing the error. When you delete the .nvpy directory, nvpy will do a clean full sync at the next startup.

It worked :) Why do you think this has happened?

cpbotha commented 11 years ago

When it happens, it usually starts due to a server error. There's not much we can do about that, except that I could modify the sync implementation to be less paranoid, i.e. to continue syncing the other notes if it runs into one that gives that sync error.

Thanks for the report!

hey, this happened to me and the solution worked, but now it's happening every few days... if you work out some other fix, let me know! kudos for the app, it's being great!
