Can't log in to Garmin #501

I'm using the right username and password, but I am unable to log in to Garmin from Tapiriik. It worked fine a couple of weeks ago. Is anybody else experiencing this?

Am experiencing same. First noticed yesterday. I can’t “disconnect” either - nothing happens. Suspect it’s related to the Garmin api incident of a few weeks ago.

Same hapenning for me, cannot login to Garmin Connect...

I disconnected when I realised it wasn't synchronising, but cannot no reconnect.

I've contacted Garmin. Have you?

Sync with Garmin is broken Can't disconnect from Garmin. When starting in a private window and trying to reconnect I can't...

I'm newbie on tapiriik and have the same problem. Trying connect Garmin and received "There was a problem logging you in"

Yes, unfortunately there is currently a problem preventing Garmin Connect login and synchronization. I am working to resolve it, but no timeline at the moment.

@cpfair do you need help? I'm a software engineer with Python knowledge. If you can point me to where the Garmin Connect API is documented, I am able to lend a hand.

I contacted Garmin weeks ago. It just said that it won't help because Tapiriik is a third-party app.

What feedback did others get from Garmin?

I am currently working with Garmin to build a new integration using their Garmin Health API. Hopefully it will be ready before the end of the month - sorry for the delay!

I see Garmin Connect is working, yay!

My excitement is dulled by this alert: “Due to new limitations in Garmin Connect's API, tapiriik can no longer upload activities to your Garmin Connect account...”

WTF GARMIN, SERIOUSLY?!??

I asked them regarding activity uploads - they said that it is not on their road-map, unfortunately.

Thanks Collin. Disappointing response from Garmin. I sent a feedback email to the Support address on their dev page (support@health.garmin.com), and recommend others do too.

Tempted to ask DCRainmaker about this. He presented at their conference, and in following writeup mentioned the API being more "open." No activity uploads feels like the opposite, and a slap in the face to loyal Garmin users.

Unfortunately, it still does not work for me. I logged off everywhere and then logged in again. I want to sync from Garmin to Strava.

@AndreEpe you can connect garmin to strava directly from Garmin App in Settings - 3rd Party Apps

I'm also disappointed that it won't synchronise old activities either, but never mind.

Although I can now log into Garmin (which was the initial problem I raised), like @AndreEpe, tapiriik does not synchronise with Garmin Connect. I have tried manual as well as automatic synchronisation, but that doesn't help.

@carolineyanko, yes I know. But this does not synchronize manual activities, activity names, and notes. Tapiriik did that. So it would be nice if it worked again.

Maybe I should start a new issue since this one is resolved but I want to ask a question regarding the new limitations.

@cpfair: The work with the new API, does that mean that historical data will be available to synchronize again and that the API will give access to old activities?

Regarding activity upload, did Garmin just confirm that they dropped support without replacing it with no plans to add it back? That feels super odd, must be a deal breaker when trying to get customers from other services.

The fact that I can still see my activities in Runkeeper, does that mean that GC pushes the recorded activities to RK and not that RK are pulling them? I thought it was the other way around since GC is the 3rd party app connected from RK but what do I know. 🤔

@AndreEpe Thanks for answering a question that I had wondered for ages. Before trying Garmin's sync to Strava, I wanted to know whether it synchronised names and notes.

I've started another thread about problems synchronising (https://github.com/cpfair/tapiriik/issues/507), because the issue in this thread has been solved.
