The RunKeeper API is no longer supported or documented, so it'll be a bit hard to investigate or fix. However, the code looks quite simple - it gets calories from Strava and writes them to RunKeeper. AFAIK there's only one unit for calories so it can't be a conversion error. One difference is that RunKeeper supports calories at points on the route, whereas Strava doesn't. Maybe RunKeeper recalculates the calories based on that, rather than using the activity total that was specified.
