Very noticable frame drops during simple karaoke subs using XySubFilter #184

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Watch provided video sample.
2. See frame drops when subs on screen.
3. Cry.
4. Switch back to xy-VSFilter.
5. Video runs fine.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
XySubFilter 3.1.0.682 (Git 6629506) on Win 8.1

MPC-HC 1.7.3

Please provide related subtitle script (if any). And the less characters
the script is, the less effort I have to make to fix the issue, so if you
could make the script as simple as possible, that would be appreciated.

Video sample:

Sub track is attached.

Please provide any additional information below.

Just for completeness, my PC specs:

i5 2500K Sandy Bridge
4GB RAM
2G Radeon 6950

I do not see anything abnormal with the linked video sample.

Are you positive that only XySubFilter is active and shown under filters when
you right-click on the MPC-HC window?

Download a MPC-HC nightly from:
http://nightly.mpc-hc.org/

Disable Options -> Playback -> 'Use Built-in Subtitle Renderer' in MPC-HC.

Test both madVR & EVR-CP with XySubFilter. Do you experience dropped frames
with both?

If you had the script font "Bell Gothic Std Black" (BellGothicStd-Black.otf)
installed in your font directory, try uninstalling it and rebooting.

Please also post a log from the attached logging build. By default the log is
written to "C:\XySubFilter.log"

No, but all other filters are the LAV suite and MadVR.

>Test both madVR & EVR-CP with XySubFilter. Do you experience dropped frames

Actually, no. EVR-CP is fine. I didn't know XySubFilter could connect to EVR-CP
before today, so I hadn't tried it. So is this a MadVR problem, then?

Nope.

Done.

What sort of CPU & GPU queue sizes were you using in madVR?

'Optimize subtitle quality for performance instead of quality' enabled or
disabled?

What sort of GPU load are you seeing in something like GPU-Z?

Does CPU load look normal between xy-VSFilter & XySubFilter?

Which queue in madVR falls first in the CTRL+J OSD right before these drops
occur?

> So is this a MadVR problem, then?

Well if it doesn't occur in EVR-CP, it's either a madVR issue or a madVR
settings issue. I can only assume you may be pushing GPU too hard with madVR
scaling or dithering settings, and not leaving enough room for madVR's subtitle
processing. If these drops still occur with low intensive madVR settings, I'd
suggest creating an entry on madshi's bug tracker:
