HTML generator is always left behind #567

The adoc and HTML generators share a lot of duplicate code and commonalities. We could find a way to explore this more generically so that changes are consistently applied to both.

@fpelliccioni Although #604 focused on another issue, could you check if it hasn't already fixed this issue in passing?

In particular, minor inconsistencies still exist between the Asciidoc and HTML template files. If the other template files match, this might be the only problem we have left here.
