I was a bit groggy when I looked at this page last night, and I had to read the first paragraph about three times before I realized what it was. Then I nearly fell off my chair.

Thanks for the lilypond rec, I wouldn't even be trying this without that. I haven't actually started using it yet as I'm bogged down in the libretto, but I read through the docs and it seems tractable.
