Add Tracker Ability #74

Open tfabella opened 5 months ago

New Feature - The ability for other users to see where the BikeBus is currently located along a route to help with visibility and better communication.

Describe the solution you'd like This will help with riders seeing when the group will approach them along the route. This could also be used to communicate to local drivers when to avoid the BikeBus/traffic.

Describe alternatives you've considered Apple Maps sharing but it’s not ideal because once you share your location. Others will be able to track you constantly. No privacy. I am currently using Glympse for our BikeBus tracking. It’s nice because I can put a time limit to stop tracking me/sharing my location with others.

Additional context The problem with Glympse is it stops tracking when I stop my bike to help other riders because I ride the tail. More ideal for the front rider who is in constant motion. It will start tracking me again as soon as I start moving. It also stops tracking if I change apps during the ride like changing music or taking a pic with my camera. Not full proof.

When a BikeBus has an event leader, the leader can start the BikeBus event. That makes the event "live tracking". When the event is over, the BikeBus leader ends the event and it stops tracking. I'll add some screenshots. Maybe there's also areas of improvement here.

Hi Craig,Oh you do have live tracking? Ok misunderstood while playing with your application. I thought it just plans the event.I did have issue with my duration time setting correctly. We have a 2 mile loop where we start and end at the same location. Any advice on how I can fix this for me to manually update from 0.5 minutes to 25 minutes? Thanks so much for responding!ToddSent from my iPhoneOn Apr 17, 2024, at 11:59 AM, Craig Merry @.***> wrote: When a BikeBus has an event leader, the leader can start the BikeBus event. Oh my! Yeah that duration is not close at all! I'll take a look. I should also have a manual override for the duration.

Hi Craig,

I tried to use the Bike Bus app a few times now but still unsuccessful.

Today I created an event. But still gaffer l log in and select to be a leader of the event…

My login shows anonymous. Not my name and I do not see anywhere on event page to start the event.

Thanks, Todd

Thanks Todd for the report. I haven't been active at all on this project for the last month plus. Been quite sick and getting back to normal with the job and family duties. I'll investigate this first thing.
