The text search fields on the browse page are not easy to edit. You cannot click inside of the text search to add/delete text easily. This is because the search forms are generated dynamically as the search fields are updated. When a text field is regenerated, the position of the cursor in the field should be restored. This is particularly true for the back arrow, backspace and forward arrows. Currently the cursor is moved to the end of the text when there is any change happening in the field.
You can edit the internal parts of the string in the text fields by click with the mouse at the location to change, and then you can make one change before the cursor is moved to the end (either adding or deleting one character at a time).
