NIFC logo #37

Related to EU flag and other logos at the bottom of the page, should a NIFC logo be added? Presumably next to the EU Flag? Or on the other side of the flag.

And logos to related websites as well (PMP for example).

Commit https://github.com/craigsapp/website-polish-scores/commit/f954e4eb8c43d99286d79ff5a64e64ff57465dab adds the graphic part of the NIFC logo to the website:

It is difficult to place the logo on a dark background, so I moved it into the white region. Then the EU Flag was moved to the other side of the page for symmetry.

This arrangement will get in the way of the menu system for things such as configuration in particular, and the analysis menu later on, so I hide the logo/flag when the web browser is not full width:

But this could be refined to show the logo/flag always on the browse page, and only on the work page when there is no subpage being displayed. This is probably better to do in the long term, particularly when the configuration menu gets a lot of options and starts scrolling into the EU flag area.

One problem is that the logo's red color:

Is not the same as the red used otherwise on the web page:

I find it acceptable, particularly since the logo red is quite small.

One possibility would be to place the logo in the background image area:

Notice that I added a white stripe which is implied by the logo but invisible when on a white background. I also added a white shadow, but it is hard to make it visible enough with CSS to show up well on a busy dark background.

On the PMP website, the difference in red hues is more distracting:

Particularly because the hamburger menu on the right is in a darker red hue:

Yet it is in symmetric position to the lighter red logo, and both of them are composed of thin parallel lines, so the visual activity of that asymmetry is distracting. Also the hamburger menu is horizontally aligned with the entire logo on the left, including the text:

Instead the hamburger menu should be moved up so that it is horizontally centered with the graphic part of the logo, excluding the textual part. At least it is quite noticeable when the web browser page is narrow. In any case, the space above the hamburger icon and the space to the right are not equal, which is more the case for the logo on the right.

In addition the meaning of the logo is not clear to me, while the NIFC logo is clearly an symbolized Polish flag, and the red obviously should match the official color of the flag. While on the PMP website, I do not understand why the red hue of the logo does not match the red hue used elsewhere on the webpage.

In addition, the Logo changes color to white on this page:

Screen Shot 2021-11-05 at 12 25 23 PM

https://portalmuzykipolskiej.pl/en/kompozytorzy

which indicates that the exact color of the logo is not important (and should thus be changed to match the red hue of the rest of the page).

The name of the URL "Portal Muzyki Polskiej" is different from the text of the logo: "Dziedzictwo Muzyki Polskiej", which is confusing:

Also, the text of the logo remains in Polish when viewing the page in English:

Screen Shot 2021-11-05 at 12 28 16 PM

It should be "Polish Music Heritage", or "Heritage of Polish Music" or "Polish Musical Heritage" (the last one being more British than American).

Another problem I notice on the page being commented on: https://portalmuzykipolskiej.pl/en/osoba/4570-Stanislaw-Moniuszko

Is that there is a "< Return" button that does not do anything when clicked on:

(Perhaps because the URL for the page was entered directly into the web browser?). Also it does not take you back to POPC2 digital score website, which in theory it could be made to do to some extent (it is difficult to set the link back to the original score on the website):

Discussed a while ago is removal of the background for composer portraits. I find the removal of the background for the PMP website to be distracting:

Since it is difficult to separate hair from the background (what little Moniuszko has).
