in tests, some cases where the socket was unexpectedly closed or connection was lost did not prompt a change to DISCONNECTED state or anything useful.

Based on testing with a845ed4 and crashdemons/plugin_autologin@3878743

autoreconnect seems to work fine on both forced disconnect and connection loss during testing
