At the moment there are all sorts of issues with MAVLink 1.0 and copter-gcs.
I finally received both an APM2.5 and some time away from work, and have
started testing the code. It crashes just as bad for me (as with all the other
bug reports on here), but i made good progress yesterday.
As soon as its fixed, i'll post an update. After that I'd be happy to look at
testing for arduplane as well, although I expect there to be significant
overlap?

Yes, ideally there should be full overlap, otherwise how would the windows
Mission Planner work for all configurations? However, some of the ui is
obviously built for quads, or probably specifically for you.
I'd be happy to help with input or code.
