To make this issue actionable, I propose to simply replace the comment with a note emphasizing the importance ot keeping those redirects due to their active use in the wild.
Also, our server logs indicate the URLs are being accessed (averaging about 175 uncached hits per day)
The file referenced in the initial comment (config/default-ssl.conf
) is deprecated. See linked PR for resolution in the active/current file.
This is neither a bug nor a feature request, but a request to maintain status quo:
A comment in the configuration of the main website questions the relevancy of keeping the redirects to external licenses: https://github.com/creativecommons/creativecommons.org/blob/89e4045870326769cd209adf82456728d371ff7c/config/default-ssl.conf#L176
Please do: Those URIs are in widespread use, e.g. embedded into SVG files produced by Inkscape, as seen here: https://codesearch.debian.net/search?q=rdf%3Aresource%3D%22http%3A%2F%2Fcreativecommons.org%2Flicenses%2F%5B%5Eb%5D&literal=0
