[Bug] Dead link for examples in FAQ #58

Closed Huy-Ngo closed 3 years ago

Huy-Ngo commented 3 years ago

Description

In the section How should I decide which license to choose?, there is a link to examples that demonstrate how various licenses fit into licensors’ overall strategies.

The link is https://creativecommons.org/examples, which redirects to https://creativecommons.org/share-your-work/licensing-types-examples

Reproduction

  1. Go to https://creativecommons.org/faq/#how-should-i-decide-which-license-to-choose
  2. Click on a list of examples
  3. See error.

Expectation

There should be a list of examples in the destination, or the link should not be mentioned at all.

Complications

The redirect from https://creativecommons.org/examples is broken, it should be to https://creativecommons.org/share-your-work/licensing-examples/ (trailing forward slash). However, that page is also a redirect to https://creativecommons.org/about/cclicenses/ and the Expectation remains:

There should be a list of examples in the destination, or the link should not be mentioned at all.

Potential Solution

The closest thing to an examples page I could find on the creativecommons.org website is the The growing common widget at the bottom of the homepage: https://creativecommons.org/#creativecommons_resource_homepage_widget-3.

One solution is to put that same widget into a page at https://creativecommons.org/examples (and update the redirects, as necessary).

Was there an actual list of examples that ended up being removed?
