1. Europeana

Description. Europeana is a web portal created by the European Union containing digitised cultural heritage collections of more than 3,000 institutions across Europe. It includes records of over 50 million cultural and scientific artefacts (art, books, films and music), brought together on a single platform. Wikipedia

API information: The Europeana Search API provides a way to search for metadata records and media on the Europeana repository https://pro.europeana.eu/page/search

2. Smithsonian Open Access

Description. Download, share, and reuse millions of the Smithsonian’s images, without asking. With new platforms and tools, access to more than 4.5 million 2D and 3D digital items. This includes images and data from across the Smithsonian’s 21 museums, nine research centres, libraries, archives, and the National Zoo.

3. OpenVerse

Description. Explore more than 600 million creative works, An extensive library of free stock photos, images, and audio, available for free use. Where does the content on Openverse come from? (https://openverse.org/sources) There is openly licensed content hosted on millions of domains across the breadth of the internet. The openverse team systematically identifies providers hosting CC-licensed content. If it’s a good fit, they index that content and make it discoverable through Openverse

NB: Sources also include Flickr, Wikimedia Commons MetMuseum and Europeana, which raises the concern of having duplicate data

The first two are already in progress (glam branch).

I think we should avoid adding Openverse. There is the concern that you raised of duplication. Also, I do not expect Openverse to store/expose all of the metadata that would benefit this project.

oh, Didn't realize the first 2 were already work in progress, I had similar thoughts regarding OpenVerse too. Thanks for your response.

Should i go ahead to close the issue then?.
